If you suffer from premature ejaculation, talking about it with your family doctor can be daunting. Here a doctor reveals some things you can do from home.
For many men, premature ejaculation is a source of shame. This should not be the case however, as premature ejaculation is more common than you think.
In fact, Dr. Douglas Savage of the Leger Clinic – who offer treatment and hope for men and women suffering from a wide variety of sexual problems – specializes in the condition.
He said the Daily Star 20% of men suffer from premature ejaculation at some point in their lives. That’s one in five men.
“I always tell them that it is not their fault that it has developed. Most of the cases we see are because this is the way they were born – it’s what nature intended,” Douglas explained. “They certainly are not a failure.”
There are two main types of premature ejaculation: lifelong (primary) and acquired (secondary).
“Most men have always had it,” Douglas explained. “For some people it is secondary for several reasons. Usually due to an erection problem or sometimes anxiety due to a relationship.”
“It can happen due to medical conditions too, although this is very rare. Thyroid hyperactivity can be a source as well as inflammation or infection of the prostate.”
Douglas added that most of the men he sees are younger men who have tried the behavioral techniques they have found online – some come even less than a minute.
So what can men do if they are too embarrassed to see a doctor?
1. Monitor your excitation scale
First, Douglas said that many men are not aware of their levels of sexual arousal. He said he tries to get them to focus on their enthusiasm and rank him on a scale of 0 to 10.
Once the levels of excitement reached 8, this is the point of no return so he said if a man feels he is reaching this level to climb again to last longer.
2. Relax your booty
Another thing that can trigger premature ejaculation, Douglas said, was if a man strained too much his vagabond during sex.
He deliberately recommended trying to relax this and getting his partner to get around and check if he is relaxed.
3. Check out a pharmacy online
A short time on antidepressants can also help and sometimes break the trap. Douglas said that some men take them and find the last longer and then train to last longer once they leave them.
“No one should suffer in silence, it really hits the self-esteem of these young people,” Douglas said.
“We have to reassure them that they are not a monster and it is completely natural.”
